Outdoor Learning and Forest School
BackOur Forest School sessions are designed to provide children with rich, meaningful experiences rooted in the principles of Forest School education. Through regular outdoor learning opportunities in our extensive school grounds, we aim to foster curiosity, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world. Our Forest School sessions prioritise the development of:
Teamwork and Collaboration: Children engage in group activities that encourage them to work together, share ideas, and solve problems, building strong communication and cooperation skills.
Curiosity and Exploration: We inspire a sense of wonder and discovery by immersing children in nature, encouraging them to ask questions, investigate their surroundings, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
Risk-Taking and Resilience: By participating in carefully managed risk-taking activities, children learn to assess challenges, build confidence, and adapt to new situations, all while fostering independence and perseverance.
Our approach is rooted in the principles of Forest School education, including:
· Child-Led Learning: Activities are guided by the interests and needs of the children, promoting engagement and ownership of their learning.
· Building Relationships: Sessions emphasise trust, respect, and empathy, strengthening relationships with peers, adults, and the natural environment.
· Holistic Development: Forest School nurtures physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth, supporting the whole child.
Our extensive school grounds provide the perfect setting for children to connect with nature and offer many opportunities for exploration and creativity, whether building dens, observing wildlife, or engaging in imaginative play.
Through Forest School, we aim to develop confident, curious, and independent learners who:
· Appreciate and care for the natural world.
· Understand the value of collaboration and teamwork.
· Approach challenges with courage and resilience.
· Enjoy a sense of well-being through outdoor experiences.
By embedding Forest School principles into our curriculum, we give children the tools to explore the world around them, take risks safely, and grow as thoughtful, resourceful individuals.
