SEND
BackAt Pickhurst Infant Academy, our intention for pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is to ensure that all pupils receive a high-quality and ambitious education regardless of need or disability.
All staff at Pickhurst Infant academy believe that SEND Improves, physical health, emotional well-being & safeguarding.
We believe that it is vital that our pupils are equipped with the tools needed to become independent, inquisitive and reflective learners both in and out of the classroom.
Through our high-quality planning, teaching and provision we provide an accessible learning environment which is tailored to the individual needs of all pupils.
We ensure early identification and intervention for SEND to ensure that progress and opportunities are maximised.
We work in partnership with parents and carers and work closely with external agencies and other professionals to hone and develop our bespoke provision for pupils with SEND.
We Identify areas for development in special educational needs and ensure that these form part of the school’s improvement plan.
Pickhurst Infant Academy set high expectations for every pupil and ensure constant inclusion of all pupils. We oversee the records of all pupils with SEND through monitoring of pupil achievement and proactively use this information to inform planning and next steps. We also:
Provide professional guidance and continuing professional development for all staff to secure high-quality teaching and effective use of resources for pupils with SEND.
Provide professional guidance and support for parents and carers to ensure high quality support for all pupils with SEND.
Ensure that within teaching and learning there is a high awareness, consideration and understanding of any special educational need.
